WHY ENTER?
Support Alternative Education: The Dome School is an alternative education school. Parents can only do so much, can only pay so much tuition. It takes a community to educate the next generation, and the community benefits from educating the next generation. Public education has become corporate education. Help fund alternatives. The Dome School is a great alternative.
And we want everyone to get in on the fun!
If you are a songwriter:
Enter a song and enjoy, we are going to have a blast!
But just because you are not a songwriter does not mean you have to miss out on the fun:
If you are a vender, music lover, fan, family member, whatever, you can...
#1. Sponsor a song:
Have a friend of family member with a good song? Be their sponsor and pay their entry fee. If you hear an original song on stage you like, talk to the artist and see if it is one of their own, if so ask them if they would like a sponsor and provide a starving songwriter the entry fee.
#2. Sponsor a sub-category and be your own judge:
If you hear a song that you think is best (name your category, for example, female retaliation song, tear jerker, knuckle buster, love song, whatever), and for instance you have a good prize for that category, bring your said category and prize to us, we will announce you as the sponsor, the category, prize and winner from the main stage.
If you have maybe a good category and prize, but no song in mind, you can let our judges pick a winner.
Get your song heard:
All entering songwriters will have a chance to perform their new song at our new solar powered Ballad Tree stage during the fair, Sept 17-19, 2010. The three finalist will perform their songs on the main stage, and the winner will Open (right after the kids) the Fair Next Year. All finalists will have their song aired on Hope Mountain Radio from the Main Stage, and we may have some Contestant interviews from Ballad Tree.

Be part of creating a Songwriter Scene in S. Oregon: We have many songwriters in Oregon. When we get together, all our creative juices get flowing. Help us put S. Oregon on the Songwriters’ map.

Well, there is quite simply nothing like a song circle around a campfire.
We will be setting one up nightly.
Get your name out:
We will be listing all entries w/ links to the songwriters’ web sites or FB pages on our New Song page. The winner will be interviewed for stories to be published in the local paper and on the net.
